Photo of the day (115): Plekocheilus

Recently, Adri??n Gonz??lez sent me some pictures made during a trip to northern Ecuador, vicinity of El Laurel. The Plekocheilus (Eurytus) species that I depict here can’t be identified more specifically. However, these photos are too beautiful to withheld them for you. So here they are.

The sculpture of this shell is rather peculiar and, together with the distinct spirally descending streaks, remind me of some species that may be found in southern Venezuela. An interesting but puzzling thought…
